THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

The ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
AIM/objectivo (Awareness In Movement).

Developed by Frederick Matthias Alexander, he believed that, ‘Every man, woman and child holds the possibility of physical perfection; it rests with each of us to attain it by personal understanding and effort’.

This is not a therapy as such, but a process of re-education, which aims to teach us to rediscover our natural poise, freedom and use our bodies more efficiently. In short, Alexander Technique helps you to find an easier way of using your body. With the practitioner’s gentle hands-on guidance and helpful observation, you become aware of harmful habits of muscular effort and tension and learn to undo and release them. This can lead to:

- Better posture
- Reduced stress and tension
- Improved performance in day to day activities

There are many perceptions about aging and getting older.   In the Alexander Technique, I was taught that you cannot predict what is going to happen from moment to moment but you can choose NOW how you want to be for the rest of your life.   Let’s choose to have awareness in movement (AIM) with an interest on the HOW.
The Alexander Technique is frequently recommended by General Practioners in the Medical field,  Physiotherapists and Osteopaths.
The Alexander Technique
Helps to improve kinaesthetic sense -  which leads you to discover a clear natural step towards good movement patterns

"Forward and up not back and down."   Soshana Kaminitz, my Alexander Technique teacher, head of training in London, reminded us in our classes.  I am a  S.T.A.T approved certificated Alexander Technique teacher teaching for 12 years in  Europe.

                                                                    GIVE YOURSELF TIME
10 minutes a day go slow.
CONSTRUCTIVE REST IS GOOD FOR YOU.
Lie on your back in a SEMI SUPINE supported position with a book or two under your head.
Take this time to notice your back and your head supported, legs and arms untroubled of undue tension.
                                                                 When you gently get up.....
Continue to notice the enjoyable sensation.
